Safety of subways / trams
The metro / tram block is a mobile block defining a safety distance D corresponding to D = 1/2 (Vit) ² / 1.20.
1.20 m / s² is the usual braking value of the metro.
Vit is the instantaneous metro / tram speed.
The maximum braking value can reach 2 m / s², but it shakes up the travelers.
At all times, the metro / tram knows the position of the previous metro / tram and adapts its speed and position in order to stay in its block.
